He would carry the unbearable burden of war “with malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right.” And then redemption would come, “a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.” But, as history tells us, we must continue to seek that redemption until the end of time.
